Delightful and uncommon double hemisphere map of the world showing California as an island. This small map is the only one contained in the first volume of F. Neoburgus' Curieusen Hofmeisters... The cartography is similar to a double hemisphere map created by Jans Luyts, with a part of the coastline of Australia shown and named Nova Hollandia. The coastline labeled N. Zealand is confused with a huge, southern continent. This lovely map is decorated with an angel supporting the globe amidst clouds, the moon and a cheerful, smiling sun. Engraved by Andre Sohn, published by Heybey. Not in Shirley.
