The cartography of this fine map of ancient France during the Roman Empire is based largely on Caesar's De Bello Gallico. It is engraved to show the mountains, rivers and forests with only a few ancient place names. The names of the regions and tribes of Gallia, as described by Caesar, are listed at sides. Decorated by a bold title cartouche and a coin or seal with a profile of Caesar.
