Four joined sheets make up this map of the United States and provide an excellent view, particularly of the American West with large western territories; Missouri, Minnesota, Indian, Washington, Oregon, Utah, and New Mexico. The boundary with British Columbia is correct and the boundary with Mexico reflects the Gadsden Purchase. This is a lithograph map and an early example of the combination of early printed color in the oceans and outline color applied by hand to distinguish the borders.
