"[Lot of 2] Map of the Dublin and Kingstown Railway as laid out and now in course of Execution under the Immediate Superintendence of Charles Nignotry Civil Engineer", British Government
Period: 1834 (dated)
Publication: House of Commons, 2nd Report of Public Works, Ireland
Color: Hand Color
In Two Parts: "Part 1 Dublin to Merrion" (34 x 13.5") and "Part 2, Merrion to Kingstown" (42 x 13.2"). Two highly detailed maps of the vicinity both sides of the route from Dublin to Kingstown. Streets are named and locations of selected buildings are noted. Scale: 8 in. = 1 English mile. A very early railroad map with excellent detail along the route and within the cities. It is interesting to note that this railway operated as an "Atmospheric" railway between 1844 to 1854 which worked on a compressed air system. A scarce matched pair of maps.
Clean, bright example with original coloring. Backed with archival tissue.
