Fort Cormantin on the Gold Coast (Ghana) was the headquarters of the English possessions in the region. In 1665, the Dutch Admiral de Ruyter captured Fort Cormantain in retaliation for the capture of the other Dutch forts by English Admiral Holmes in 1664. This view is from a history of the adventures of Admiral de Ruyter and shows the Dutch ships firing on the fort. Title in decorative banner in the sky.
