Miniature chart of the constellation Berenice's Hair. One story of the creation of this constellation concerns an Egyptian Queen named Berenice who promised the gods that she would cut off her beautiful hair if her husband returned from war safely. When her husband returned she cut off her hair and placed it in the temple as an offering to the gods who watched over her husband. So pleased were the gods with Berenice's sacrifice that they place her hair in the sky for all to admire.
