"Map of Kansas, Atkinson, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad", Railroad Companies, (Various)
Period: 1874 (dated)
Color: Black & White
23 x 12 inches
58.4 x 30.5 cm
Complete broadsheet (43 x 28") titled "Best Enterprise in the West" above the map of Kansas and four views and text promoting the sale of Railroad Grant Lands from Topeka westward through the Cottonwood and Arkansas river valleys. Text includes glowing reports on the agricultural potential of the land and each county with purchase terms and qualifications. The opposite side contains an untitled map of the South showing the railroad and its proposed routes to California with four additional Kansas views and promotional text. The sheet provides a fascinating view of western immigration and settlement.
Some toning on folds with tissue repairs on some folds. Minimal loss at some fold intersections, overall very good for a map of this nature.
