Large and incredible vellum indenture complete with a beautifully drawn manuscript plan of the town of Monkwearmouth in Durham County, England. The contract is for one year's lease of a large section of the town with the buildings, land, equipment, ox carts, etc. The property was owned by Sir Hedworth Williamson and leased to John Murray Aynsley. The indenture is beautifully written with calligraphy and a tax stamp. Attached is the finely drawn plan, colored with watercolors and including a large compass rose and tax stamp. They are attached with red ribbons and signed and sealed with red wax.
