This humorous map was drawn with a vastly oversized Texas occupying more than half of the United States. The remaining states are squished east, west and north of Texas with jokes and puns instead of state names, such as Oklahoma named "Upper Texas," California named "Disneyland," Wisconsin named "Cheese Whizes," and Mississippi named "MISS Placed." Within Texas numerous cities are located, many of which are accompanied by a small, amusing illustration. The Atlantic Ocean is named "Sam Rayburn Lake," the Pacific is "Tawakoni Lake," and Cuba is "Soviet Export Center." At bottom left is a "Legend" with "Tall Tales" denoting the state gem as a football, an armadillo as the state roadside decoration, and beer as the state pastime. Created by Mountaintop Studios in De Leon, Texas for the National Historical Association. Mountaintop Studios was created in 1986 by Dianne Donegan and Donna Gibson and specialized in miniature paintings and scale model furniture.
