A. Middlesex County, by H.F. Walling, circa 1871, hand color (23.6 x 16.4"). A detailed map of Middlesex County with townships highlighted in hand color. The street-grid pattern of Boston is depicted at right, and there is excellent detail of roads, railroads, cities and towns, and even individual buildings. The map extends to Ipswich in the northeast and Worcester in the southwest. Dissected and backed with linen. Condition: Issued folding with light staining.

B. Picture Story of the Historical Rides of Paul Revere William Dawes Dr. Prescott April 18-19, 1775, by Ivan Chisholm & Robert Winn, circa 1930, printed color (15.8 x 12.5"). This unusual pictorial map depicts the rides of Paul Revere and William Dawes from Boston to Lexington. These two "mounted messengers" warned John Hancock and Samuel Adams that the British were coming. Also depicted is Samuel Prescott's "midnight ride" to warn the townspeople of Concord of the impending British army move to capture its guns and gunpowder. The map is filled with related notes and illustrations, as well as a narrative at bottom. Blank verso. Condition: Uniform light toning.
