"Austria Archiducatus auctore Wolfgango Lazio", Hondius/Blaeu
Period: 1630 (circa)
Color: Hand Color
20.5 x 14 inches
52.1 x 35.6 cm
Striking large map of the Danube River valley. Vienna is prominently featured and the map is filled with tiny villages, cities, mountains, forests and lakes. Three decorative cartouches grace the map including a coat of arms. This was among the plates that were sold to Blaeu after Jodocus' death in 1629. Hondius' imprint has been removed (and is still barely visible in the blank lower left cartouche). In later issues Blaeu added his own imprint here.
