The map of the United States shows territorial development to circa 1862. The southern Texas border is along R. de los Pecos instead of the Rio Grande. A large Nebraska Territory extends west to the Rocky Mountains, where it borders with Washington Territory, and Arizona is named but still part of New Mexico Territory. Each of the puzzle maps measures 17.2 x 12" when assembled. The map of Africa is missing. The maps are separated by pressed paper dividers, some of which still have the original pink ribbon pulls, and fit into the original wooden box (18.5" x 13.3"), which is covered with decorative brown paper. The cover features a beautifully embossed and highly decorative title label with gold leaf. A great, partial set of puzzle maps with the original box.
