Beautiful edition of Sanson's famous atlas. Complete with all 15 maps present. Includes the following charts (with condition noted for each map): "Amerique Septentrionale" (A+); "Le Canada, ou Nouvelle France" (A+); "La Floride" (A+); "Audience de Mexico" (A); Audience de Guadalajara, Nouveau Mexique, California, &c." (A); "Audience de Guatimala" (A); "Les Isles Antilles" (A); "Amerique Meridionale" (A); "Terra Ferme, Nouveau Royme de Grenade, &c." (A); "Guiane divisee en Guiane et Caribane" (A); "La Perou et le cours de la Amazone" (A - with a light ink film from printing plate); "Le Chili" (A - This is the only map left partially folding, short binding trim tear just into border); "Le Bresil, dont la Coste est possedee par les Portugais et divisee en Quatorze Caitaineries..." (A); "Le Paraguay Subdivise en ses principales Parties" (A); and "Destroit de Magellan, Terre et Isles Magellanicques, &c." (B - a large but light stain mostly in the upper portion). The atlas has been carefully rebound in what appears as 19th century calf with paper added to inside edge of text pages so folding maps are laid-in unfolded. Hardbound with gilt decoration, title page, text and maps, contents, 81pp., 15 maps. A lovely example of a scarce and most desirable atlas.


Condition: A

Title page is still bound in, but loose at two binding stitches. Manuscript brown ink signature on title page. Text and map generally very clean and bright.
