Handsome 19th century map colored to indicate the colonial possessions of Great Britain, France, Spain, Portugal, Holland, Denmark and the United States. The map includes a large inset of Liberia and the city of Monrovia. This inset clearly reveals the extent of this American Colony, which was designed to repatriate slaves. In the South, the Cape Colony is named, but with very sparse geographical information.
