De Leth was successor to the Visscher firm and was a skilled engraver as well as a mapseller and publisher. This handsome and uncommon map is based on the work of the important French cartographer Guillaume de l'Isle. It is a very detailed and fascinating map of northeastern Africa, the Red Sea and the Arabian Peninsula showing the political divisions and kingdoms. The Nile originates in the Lake de Danee.
Beautiful, early impression with original coloring on thick hand laid paper. One small spot and trace of toning on lower centerfold, else fine.
