A very rare complete Book of Hours from the transitional period in which printers incorporated the manuscript conventions of historiated initials and illustrations into their work. Each leaf is richly illustrated with panels of iron engraved scenes and finished by hand with manuscript initials. Printed on paper with 136 leaves, including 20 full-page illustrations. The title page notes that the book is for the use of Cambray and includes illustrations from Revelations, the lives of Tobit and Judith, Miracles de Notre Dame, the triumph of Cefas and the miracles of Our Lady. Original calf binding with raised bands on spine. Simon Vostre, who, with his partner, Pigouchet, produced some of the most spectacular Books of Hours of the late-fifteenth and early-sixteenth century. The historiated borders of the Book of Hours are particularly noteworthy, typical of the intricate and lively iron engravings created in Paris during this period.
