"Map of the Northern parts of Ohio, Indiana and Illinois with Michigan and that part to the Ouisconsin Territory Lying East of the Mississippi River", Burr, David H.
The boundary line between Michigan and Ohio was a touchy issue as Ohio was blocking admission of Michigan to the Union until the question was settled. Actual fighting was a possibility. An interesting and significant map as it shows their respective claims and also notes Indiana's revised northern boundary. Wisconsin came from the term "Ouisconsin" which is believed to mean "grassy place" in the Cheppewa tongue.

Good impression and original hand coloring. Map is very good, with just two areas of surface soil and short tear at binding edge.
