The style of this beautifully illuminated leaf is reminiscent of the Master of Hannibal, who trained in Paris and in the early 15th century moved to Flanders, where this leaf was probably made. The text is from the Matins, the Hours of the Virgin including Job 10, verse 11, and the 22nd Psalm (23rd in the King James Version). The recto is very simple with text only. But the verso is very elaborate with two different sizes of script, many gold leaf initials and an abundance of gold leaf flagstaffs, leaflets and flowers in red, blue and green.
