Scarce, early reprint of this important map by the prestigious lithography firm, Bowen & Co. It was originally issued as a House Document to accompany the report by Schoolcraft and Allen. The map covers the region of present-day Minnesota from the western tip of Lake Superior to the Red River. It shows Ft. Snelling, scores of Sioux villages, Trading Houses of the American Fur Company, the Sioux and Chippewa boundary as established in 1825, and many other fascinating details. It locates the source of the Mississippi River at 47 deg. 10'N and 95 deg. 54'W.
