"Description des Castors & de leur Industrie, des Canots, Habitations, Habillemens, Maniere de Vivre des Sauvages du Canada…", Chatelain, Henry Abraham
An interesting sheet of French text describing the customs of the Canadian Native Americans. The sheet includes several engravings of the people engaged in various activities; hunting, fishing, canoeing, marriage and burial ceremonies, etc. There is also a large, ferocious beaver, recognizable in later cartouches by de Vaugondy, Santini and others.
