Antonio de Herrera Y Tordelisllas was the official historian to the King of Spain. He compiled a history of the Spanish conquests in the Americas which included this map of Peru. "Cajamarca" (Caxamalca), where Atahualpa was captured by Pizarro is shown to the north and "Ayacucho" (Guamanga) and Cuzco are located between the Eastern and Western Cordilleras of the Andes. Although simply engraved, it is a nice example of scarce Spanish cartography.
