An interesting set of fine etchings, which are printed on satin rather than paper. This was a technique popular in the latter nineteenth century. Included are works by some of the most important artists and etchers of the time. 'The Sago River Valley' etched by W. Wellstood after a painting by George Inness. 'Landscape with Sheep' etched by James D. Smillie after a painting by Charles Emile Jacque. 'The Prophet Elijah' etched by Kimberly after a painting by Washington Allston. 'A Philadelphia Beauty' etched by Stephen J. Ferris after a painting by Gilbert Stuart. Each etching is accompanied by a sheet of descriptive text.
