Lovely map of central Africa showing the legendary kingdom of the Christian king Prester John. Cartographically similar to Ortelius's map, but including a large inset of the Congo region. The kingdom itself is shown atop the "Amara Mons". Superb old color with strapwork title and scale of miles cartouches. Mis-folded with couple of small tears in bottom margin repaired with archival tape, and 1 1/2" tear into inset, closed with old cellophane tape, else fine.

Condition: B

Estimate: $550 - $600
