Interesting map of the southern part of Africa and Madagascar. Among the numerous geographical errors is a large bulge of the southwest coastline. Notations describe the Portuguese discoveries of St. Helene, Tristan Island, and the Cape of Good Hope. Large title cartouche, to the left of which is a galleon, partly hidden by the cartouche and a comical-looking sea monster. Ref: Norwich #167. Nice crisp impression. The map has been trimmed, leaving 1" margins and backed with a large sheet of hand-laid paper.
