This early 20th century world map was designed by Edward Everett Henry and published by the Washington Square Book Shop. The map is divided into the eastern and western hemispheres with a legend at bottom identifying colonial possessions of ten nations. Several notable events are illustrated in the Western Hemisphere including Lindbergh's flight from New York to Paris in 1927, Steamship Savannah's first trip across the Atlantic in 1819, and Columbus' Landing in 1492. Illustrations in the corners of the sheet present classic imagery of the advance of civilization, and are coupled with art deco-themed illustrations of the sun and a city skyline at center. Backed with linen and shellacked, giving the map a pleasant, aged appearance.

References: Hornsby (Picturing America) #104.

Condition: B

Issued folding and now flattened and backed with linen. The map has been shellacked, giving it a more aged appearance. There is cracking along the upper-middle vertical fold, a couple chips at center, and some edge chips confined to the decorative border. The physical map has a full right border, but it appears trimmed in the digital image.
