This bold, graphic pictorial map by French commercial artist Jacques Branger was issued as a promotional item by Messageries Maritimes. It spans from Mumbai to Yokohama and goes as far south as the northern tip of Australia (represented by a kangaroo, of course). There is little geographical information aside from a smattering of place names; most of the detail consists of Orientalist illustrations that fill the landscape. There are three large ships in the waters, representing the company's newest ocean liners: the Cambodge, the Viet-Nam, and the Laos. This identical trio of ships was finished from 1952 to 1954. There is more information about these vessels in French text on verso. Self-folding.
