This reference by Dennis Reinhartz is the first book-length study to specifically focus on the decorative elements in maps. Reinhartz is professor emeritus of the University of Texas at Arlington, former president of the Society for the History of Discoveries and the Texas Map Society, and author of The Cartographer and the Literati: Herman Moll and His Intellectual Circle, among other achievements. As one might expect given its subject matter, the book is very handsomely produced and filled with illustrations. 219 pages. Hardbound with gilt title on spine and an illustrated dust jacket.
