This charming miniature map depicts the expanse of the Turkish Empire, extending from Paris, France to the Caspian Sea (depicted in a round shape), and as far south as the Red Sea and southern tip of Arabia. Pierre Duval was Nicolas Sanson's nephew and pupil. He published a wide range of atlases and individual maps including a fine miniature world geography with many of the maps based on Sanson.
