"Nova Tabula Geographica Complectens Borealiorem Americae Partem; in qua Exacte Delineatae sunt Canada sive Nova Francia, Nova Scotia, Nova Anglia, Novum Belgium, Pensylvania, Virginia, Carolina, et Terra Nova...", Visscher/Schenk
Subject: Colonial Northeastern United States & Canada
This attractive and detailed map of the northeast coast of North America extends from the Carolinas to Quebec and inland to the Great Lakes. It depicts all of Lake Ontario and parts of Lakes Huron and Erie. The map is based on the western part of the Coronelli/Nolin map of 1689 and shows the divisions between the French and British colonies. Colonial settlement is confined to the seaboard and rivers. It is beautifully engraved with topographical features and a number of Indian nations depicted in the interior. This is the third state with Schenk's imprint at top right. Engraved by Luggert van Anse.

A crisp impression in contemporary color. There are some cracks at center due to the oxidation of the green pigment that have been backed with archival tissue on verso. A few light dampstains just barely enter the map border at right, and a short centerfold separation is confined to the left blank margin.
