This boldly engraved bird's-eye plan of Frankfurt am Main is beautifully illustrated to show the Frankfurt Cathedral, churches, major buildings, and fortifications. The Saxenhausen, which guarded the bridge into the city, is depicted on the south bank of the River Main. A key at left identifies notable locations. Along the lower border are three vignette scenes: the Emperor entering the city, with the Imperial eagle hovering symbolically overhead, a panoramic view of the city from across the Main, and an allegorical scene with Mercury, the god of trade and commerce, pouring money into a cornucopia, symbolizing the city's wealth. Above the city plan are the coats of arms for the Holy Roman Empire and Frankfurt.

A nice impression with contemporary color on a foxed sheet. There are a few printer's creases and an archivally repaired centerfold separation confined to the bottom blank margin.
