Maps: Finding Our Place in the World is a companion volume to the exhibition of the same name mounted by the Field Museum in collaboration with the Newberry Library. The exhibition kicked off in Chicago in 2007 and was called "the most ambitious exhibition on the history of maps ever mounted in North America." The accompanying book features seven in-depth essays on the history of cartography from some of the world's most renowned map experts. 186 color illustrations appear throughout the text. Hardbound in green cloth with an illustrated dust jacket. 400 pages. Edited by James R. Akerman and Robert W. Karrow Jr. and signed by both on the title page.
