"Carte Geographique, Statistique et Historique de la Guyane", Buchon, Jean Alexandre

This copper engraved French map details Guyane Anglaise, Hollandaise, and Francaise. It also extends to show nearby portions of present-day Venezuela, here called Colombie, and Brazil, although there is little detail there aside from topography. A note in French Guiana refers to mountainous country covered in thick forests, only known by vague, secondhand reports. The map is on a full folio sheet (26.5 x 20.3") with French text. Buchon produced the French edition of Carey & Lea's American Atlas. He used a better quality paper and today his maps are generally found in better condition than their American counterparts.
