This small plan of New Orleans accompanied a report by Dr. Erasmus Darwin Fenner, a founding member of the American Medical Association and a key figure in 19th-century New Orleans medicine. It delineates districts, wards, and streets and shows the Mississippi River snaking along the southern edge. A key at top left tracks the spread of one of the several yellow fever outbreaks that plagued the city. Lithography by J.H. Colton & Co.
