This lot consists of four maps related to the Pacific Electric Railway including:

A. Special Sightseeing Map of Los Angeles and Vicinity, by W. Calkins, dated 1930, printed color (23.5 x 17.3"). This untitled bird's-eye view of Los Angeles by W. Calkins looks from the south with Catalina Island in the foreground, Los Angeles at center, and Mt. Lowe in the background. The map legend describes five trips that are highlighted in red overprinting on the map. The verso contains related text and illustrations. Reference: Rumsey #12082. Condition: There are a few minor fold separations repaired on verso with archival tape and a couple of tiny splits at the fold junctions. (B+)

B. Lines of Pacific Electric Railway and Motor Transit Company in Southern California, by Gerald A. Eddy, dated 1935, printed color (21.0 x 14.8"). A handsome bird’s-eye view with detailed topography shown along with the routes of the various railways in color. Includes two insets for the Mt. Lowe Tavern with a stamp stating "service temporarily discontinued." Verso advertisement includes a large, colorful ad for the railways. Condition: A clean, colorful example. (A)

C. Bird’s-eye View of Mount Lowe California, by Pacific Electric Ry. Co., dated 1913, black & white (11.1 x 7.1"). This little bird's-eye view shows the route of the Pacific Electric Railway to the Alpine Tavern with hiking/horseback trails also located. The text suggest that "no visit to the mountains is complete without a trail trip of some kind." Related text on and illustrations on verso. Condition: Near fine with minor wear along the fold lines. (A)

D. Route Map Los Angeles Railway Electric Car and Bus Routes, by Los Angeles Railway Corp., dated 1942, printed color (16.9 x 22.3"). A detailed map of the city with a legend identifying the Los Angeles Railway, Los Angeles Motor Coach Lines, and the Pacific Electric Railway. 47 points of interest are keyed to the map with little red stars. The verso has details on routes and a map of the business district. Condition: Clean and bright. (A)
