This is the second edition of this work printed for J. Dodsley in Pall-mall (London). The volume contains what is considered to be one of the earliest book-form appearances of the Declaration of Independence. It begins on page 261 with the heading "Reasons Assigned by the Continental Congress, for the North American Colonies and Provinces Withdrawing their Allegiance to the King of Great-Britain" and is followed by the Articles of Confederation for the original 13 states from pages 264-270. 279 pages with one page of contents missing. Hardbound in full contemporary leather with gilt title label and raised bands on spine.


Condition: A

Text is very clean and bright. Covers have a couple of abrasions and there is some dampstaining on the front board. Spine is cracked.
