"Settlement and Adjustment of the Oregon Question. - Message from the President of the United States, Transmitting ... Respecting the Oregon Territory", U.S. Government
This document outlines the agreed upon terms between the United States and Britain to finally put the Oregon Boundary Dispute to rest. In addition to the terms (five articles), Polk states that "the Pacific coast, and, indeed, the whole of our territory west of the Rocky mountains, should speedily be filled up by a hard and patriotic population" and promotes the use of land grants for settlers who make the journey West. 3 pages, uncut, never bound. This document has appeared in only one auction in the last 50 years.
