Rare Early Dallas Road Guide

This early road guide for the Dallas region was issued by the Dallas Automobile Club and copyrighted by Darrow & Company. The 316 pages of text are profusely illustrated with many advertisements, including full page spreads for car makers, department stores, telephone companies, Indian motorcycles, and more. The guide also features a double-page map of Dallas County by G.L. Cade (6.5 x 7.2") and 8 maps of travel routes here termed "Logs of Roads” accompanied by detailed route instructions. Includes a list of all Club members and the names and addresses of all 5987 owners of automobiles and motorcycles as of October 31, 1913. The Club was founded in 1904 by Ned Green, who supposedly owned the first automobile in Dallas. Green was the son of the famous “Witch of Wall Street” Hetty Green and a charter member of the AAA organized in 1902. Octavo, flexible printed cloth.
