This octavo geography book contains 15 folding maps including the world, North America, South America, Africa, Asia, Europe, the West Indies and 8 regional maps of Europe. In North America, the United States is confined to east of the Mississippi River with a large Louisiana to its west. The western portion of the continent is virtually blank, however, Alaska is coming into form. In the far north, a note locates the discoveries of McKenzie and Hearne in the late 18th century. The frontispiece world map (14.5 x 7.5") shows Tasmania disconnected from mainland Australia, which is depicted with a complete coastline. 641 pages with deckled edges. Octavo, hardbound in stiff paper boards.
