The waters are filled with depth soundings, shoals, rocks, banks, and navigational notes. There is little detail on land with the exception of topography of several hills and a bird's-eye plan of the city of Cartagena. Also included are two land approach views between Fort San Jose and Fort San Fernando from opposite directions. Surveyed by J. Parsons in 1854. Engraved by J. & C. Walker and originally published in 1856 with corrections through 1885.

A dark impression with light printer's ink residue, faint scattered foxing, and pencil markings above the left-hand compass that have been erased. There is a bluish shadow along the centerfold that is caused by our scanner and doesn't appear on the chart itself.
