This is a Latin edition of Bucelin's Universal History published by Johann Gorlin of Ulm. The volume is divided into six parts, with the last part containing 30 miniature maps derived primarily from Ortelius' Epitome. The maps include Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas, China, Japan, East Indies, and the balance being European regions. There are also numerous calendars and heraldic illustrations throughout the text. The volume includes a frontispiece of the goddess Fame holding a title banner while standing atop a sphere. 496 pp. with additional parts containing maps and genealogy. Hardbound in original vellum binding with manuscript title on spine.


Condition: A

The maps and text are clean, bright, and near fine with only minor scattered foxing mostly in the blank margins. Frontispiece has a stain at top and manuscript signature at bottom. Extremities have light wear.
