This complete atlas contains 7 thematic charts and 56 maps (16 double-page) in all including the world (4), ancient world (2), Americas (10), Asia (8), Africa (4), Australia (3), and Europe (25). Of U.S. interest are maps of North America, the United States (eastern only), Mexico, and an unusual Arctic Regions and British America. The atlas also contains nice maps of southern Australia, New Zealand, and a lovely Mountains and Rivers plate. Full contents include title page, table of contents, list of maps, 12 page introduction, maps, and a 63 page index. All of the original tissue guards are in place in this nice example. Rebound in quarter leather and tips over red cloth with gilt tile on front cover and spine. Engraved by Sidney Hall and published by Adam & Charles Black in Edinburgh.

Condition: B+

The maps are very good to near fine with pleasant light toning and occasional light offsetting. A few of the maps have moderate offsetting including double-page maps of England and India. Rebound with original spine label preserved. Covers are scuffed with some light dampstaining at top.
