This guide book is filled with useful maps of the Maryland/Virginia vicinity for traveling by car at the turn of the 20th century. The majority of the maps are single-page or in-text and are augmented by detailed driving instructions between various points. Includes a larger Automobile Roads in Maryland Virginia and Adjacent Territory (16 x 15.5") as well as small folding maps of Baltimore and Washington. A particularly interesting feature of this guidebook is the inclusion of a 38 page register of drivers In Washington and Maryland including license numbers, names, and addresses of some of the earliest drivers in the region. The maps are augmented by 10 single-page illustrations including Gettysburg Battlefield, Natural Bridge and Harper's Ferry. 285 pages, hardbound in black leatherette. The single-page maps, small folding maps and text are clean, bright and near fine. The large folding map of the region has overall light toning and a 1.25" fold separation. Extremities have light wear.
