This lavishly decorated map of the Holy Land depicts the flight from Egypt and the wanderings of the Children of Israel. The Holy Land is divided among the tribes and the Kishon River connects the Mediterranean to the Sea of Galilee. A compass rose orients north to the top right corner of the map. There are numerous embellishments, including depictions of the encampment of the Children of Israel, temple vessels, both sides of a shekel coin, a charming scene of Jonas and the whale, and several of Solomon's ships. Includes a fine title cartouche, ships sailing in both the Mediterranean and Red Seas, numerous putti, several engravings of religious icons, Moses, Aaron, and a charming scene of Jonas and the whale. Dutch text on verso.

Laor incorrectly attributes this map to the Visscher family, identifying the "C.D." in the title cartouche as "Cornelis Doedes" instead of Cornelius Danckerts. Although this map was created by Danckerts, it was likely copied from Claes Janszoon Visscher's earlier map from 1642, as the two families were fierce competitors in the mid-seventeenth century, both of whom had their businesses located on the same street in Amsterdam. Danckerts' edition of this map is quite rare.
