This copper engraved sheet focuses on Crete near the end of the Siege of Candia (1648-69), a conflict in which Ottoman forces besieged the Venetian-ruled city until their ultimate victory 21 years later. It features two plans and a panoramic view of Candia at top. The plans depict the fortifications and are dated 1668-69. The view is very attractive, showing the mountainous island of Crete with numerous ships and boats in the foreground.
