This rare map depicts present-day North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany. There is fine topographical detail, and a number of towns and cities are identified, including Cologne, Dusseldorf, and Essen. An inset at bottom right spans from Melle south to Lippstadt and from Munster east to Detmold. An elaborate title cartouche with a coat-of-arms sits above the inset. This is the third state of this map, with the portrait in the upper corners replaced by decorative cartouches filled with Latin text. North is oriented to the right. The publisher's imprint appears at bottom left: "Gedrukt by Hessel Gerritz z. Ende men vindtse te coop by Willem Ians z. opt Water in de vergulde Sonnewyser." Blank verso.

References: cf. Van der Krogt (Vol. II) #2381:2A.

Condition: B+

There is light soiling and a couple of archivally repaired edge tears at bottom.
