A charming miniature map of the Cape Verde Islands, off the western coast of Africa. The island of Fogo is depicted with two flaming volcanoes and is labeled Isle de Feu (island of fire). A few small towns are noted on several of the islands. Pierre Duval was Nicolas Sanson's nephew and pupil. He published a wide range of atlases and individual maps including a fine miniature world geography with many of the maps based on Sanson.
