The focus of this interesting lot of engravings is exotic plantlife from Australia, New Guineau, and Brazil. Among the many plants depicted are some noted by English explorer William Dampier. In addition to being the first man to circumnavigate the globe three times and the first Englishman to explore areas of Australia, Dampier was also an influential natural historian who helped pave the way for Alexander von Humboldt and Charles Darwin.
