This French vellum indenture originated in the court at Saint Peter Port on the island of Guernsey. The indenture states that Thomas Terrin had received a decree of inheritance on June 16, 1652 for the settlement of debts. Mr. Terrin appeared for the registration of a conveyance to Sir John le Mesurier of the land occupied by Peter le Corg at a rent of 6 bushels of wheat. In return Terrin receives 200 livres Tournois, a currency used in France in the Middle Ages. The certificate is dated September 28, 1652 and is signed and sealed by the judge and two witnesses.
