This splendid plan typifies the style and format of a series of bird's-eye plans and panoramic profiles of major cities and ports published in Germany during the eighteenth century. At top is a map of the coastline showing the fortifications of the Algerian port of Oran and at bottom is a coastal view with a fleet of ships in the foreground. The chart is richly embellished with a large allegorical title cartouche featuring Zeus and his entourage.

A strong impression on heavy watermarked paper with a few spots, a printer's crease entering about an inch into the image at top, and a damp stain that just touches the neatline at bottom left.
