This very rare, large map spans from the Gulf of Venice to Turkey, showing Hungary, Romania, and the Balkan Peninsula. Numerous roads are marked with notations along them. The map includes a dedication to the Reverend Arthur Charlett, Master of the University College at Oxford for thirty years. The large allegorical title cartouche features ruins, a figure wearing a yoke, and Turkish soldiers. On two sheets joined, as issued.
There is a horizontal crease through the center with a few tiny tears that have been closed with archival tape, as well as some soiling. Remargined at left with a portion of borders in facsimile and remargined at right with several chips extending into map border, also replaced in facsimile. Bookbinding tape used for some of the repairs on verso.
